Mini Vinnies

The Corpus Christi Mini Vinnies are a very special group of people who made a purposeful decision to turn their concerns in to action. They meet regularly to pray together, reflect together and work on different projects to serve the community together.

Prayer

Each time we meet, we take part in a Celebration of the Word together based on the Scripture from the Sunday. We engage in discussions to express our personal views before carrying out an activity to explore meanings further and to identify a mission for the following week. The Mini Vinnies have led ‘Family Prayer’ during Advent, Lent and during the months dedicated to Mary.

Reflection

Throughout the year, the Mini Vinnies work towards achieving the Faith In Action PIN award.  It is designed to allow young people to discover how faith shapes lives, thus acting as a stepping stone to the higher award levels. Having taken early steps in establishing a personal relationship with God, participants begin to see that this relationship has an outward and visible effect upon them and those around them. As they seek to know God better, they become aware that others, of all ages, are trying to do the same. This draws us together in community. Seeking to serve the community helps us discover even more about ourselves, each other and God. There are different reflection points along the journey where the group can reflect on themes such as love and service.

Serving the community

The Mini Vinnies identified several issues that were important to them at the start of the year and have endeavoured to act to support them. We have embarked on a range of projects such as food collections for the Bensham Food Co-op and Joe’s Place, informative presentations about caring for the environment and creating prayer cards for the parish community.

Visit from the librarian

Nursery thoroughly enjoyed a visit from our local librarian called Joanne.
