Yesterday, Emma from the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle came to visit Year 3 to lead a small assembly and art workshop with the children. The class are currently linked with Year 3 in Biddick Hall Primary School in South Shields on an Art/RSHE project called the Linking Project, and we are learning about our similarities and differences. Emma explained in more depth what the Linking Project is all about and she told the children that they will soon be visiting the Shipley Art Gallery to meet our friends from Biddick Hall, to play some games and take part in some art activities. After telling the children a story all about how people have similarities and differences the children completed an art task where they were given a template of a hand, and they had to customise it with information about themselves, describing things they like or dislike. The children also drew a small portrait of themselves in the centre of the hand. Finally the children sent a wave with the hand to the children in their linking school. We are very excited to meet them in June.
