Storytelling Project

A post in our latest news section.

In the run up to Christmas, Year 5 took part in a number of sessions with Gateshead Library staff centred around storytelling. They explored different ways of writing stories including maps, cave paintings, shadow puppetry and more! They learned the main steps to writing their own story, beginning with Character, Setting and Motivation. Then they explored the challenges the character would face and, ultimately, whether their stories were tragedies or had a happy ending.

This week, we visited the library and worked again with Ruth on making our own short stories. We also had the opportunity to see the final piece of work we produced together as a class. A story we had written all together, with puppets we had made and then filmed with our own narration. It was amazing! You can watch our story here.
