Splendid Sculpture in Year 5

A post in our latest news section.

During the Summer term the children have had a fantastic time exploring the medium of Sculpture in Art!

Our work started with an in depth look at some of the sculpture pieces done by the renowned artist Cai Gio-Qian. We explored some of the pieces and thought about the meaning behind them and what our own interpretations might be.

The children also worked in groups to design their own sculptures. The children thought about the theme of their pieces, with many linking it to our Space topic in science. The children used glitter to create galaxies, inspired by the Milky Way and textured pompoms and stencils to mimic the planets.

Well done Year 5!
