Scientific Enquiry in Y3 – Making Cakes

A post in our latest news section.

Year 3 enjoyed making cakes in their science lesson this week. The children planned an investigation and decided to change one ingredient from a control cake. Instead of having two large eggs in both cakes the children decided to put only one egg in a second cake. The amount of sugar, butter, flour, milk and vanilla essence was kept the same in both cakes. When the cakes came out of the oven it was clear to see that they were different. Cake one was a darker colour and also stickier in appearance. When the children tested the cakes however everyone agreed that they both tasted delicious!
