Year 4 have loved learning all about rap poetry over the last two weeks. Firstly, we started this topic by looking at the Guyanese poet Grace Nichols. We explored some of her poetry and decided our favourite was ‘Lady Winters Rap’. https://childrens.poetryarchive.org/poem/lady-winters-rap/

Next, we started looking at all the features used by Grace Nichols such as her use of rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, personification and imagery. Finally, we had great fun creating our own rap all about our favourite season while trying to use some of these great features. We had some amazing raps about summer, autumn, and spring.
