This term in Year 1, we have been learning about numbers up to 50. In particular, we have been learning about the tens and ones in a number and how to partition numbers into parts. We used a part-whole model and some base 10 to help us identify the tens and ones in a number. Year 1 are fantastic at this. We then moved onto identifying 1 more and 1 less of a given number within 50. At first, we used our base 10 to practically add 1 for 1 more, or subtract 1 for 1 less. We showed great understanding of these numbers and can now easily identify 1 more or 1 less of any number between 0-50!
