Personification in Poetry

This half term, Year 5 have been studying the poem ‘The Eagle’ by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. We have enjoyed looking at the features of figurative language used in poetry, including personification. We also loved learning a new term, ‘anthropomorphism’ and having a go at trying to include this in our own poems about a jaguar. The children tried really hard with this as it is a tricky concept to grasp and were so proud of their achievements.
