Corpus Christi

Year 1 have learnt so much about our local area in our Geography lessons. First, we thought about our town and we learnt that it was called Gateshead. We thought about the different places in Gateshead such as our school, Corpus Christi Church and Saltwell Park. Year 1 have also learnt about compasses and now know the 4 points on a compass- North, East, South and West. We then put all our learning into practice. Year 1 were given a map and a teddy bear and they had to follow the directions and move the teddy to the right location! Year 1 were fantastic at this task! They have also made some wonderful maps of their local area and thought really carefully about the different buildings and the map symbols they could use to represent that place.
