Last half term, Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed a Gymnastics unit in PE. They started by making a range of shapes with their bodies. Once they had practised the shapes, they created their own sequences. They tried hard to make smooth transitions between movements.
Next, they used the shapes that they have learnt to create with their bodies to create balances. They also experimented with different ways of travelling to different areas of the hall where they then performed a balance. After that, we started to learn how to perform different rolls. We have practised a barrel roll, straight roll and a forward roll. We created sequences using the rolls and some of the balances we have learnt. As part of our Gymnastics lessons in PE, the children also enjoyed practising some yoga poses. The children really enjoyed this unit and were very good at it.
