This half term, Year 2 have been exploring painting and mixed media. We started by naming the primary and secondary colours and explored what happens when they are mixed. Next, we went on a texture hunt around school and recreated them using a variety of tools. We looked at collages by the artist Romare Beardon and made observations about his work. The children made their own textured paper to use in their work. Using habitats as inspiration, the children worked in pairs to apply all of the skills they had acquired to create a collage. Once they had arranged their materials and textured paper, they used paint to add detail. I am very impressed with how hard the children worked. Can you guess which habitats have inspired each collage?
