As part of Refugee Week, our Year 3 pupils enjoyed a visit to the Shipley Art Gallery. During their trip, the children listened to a powerful story about migration, helping them to understand the journeys, challenges and hopes experienced by people moving from one place to another.

Following this, the pupils took part in a creative workshop where they designed and made their own paper kites. Each kite was decorated with thoughtful and uplifting messages, reflecting ideas of hope, kindness, belonging and welcome.

This experience strongly supports the children’s personal development. It encouraged empathy and compassion by helping them to see the world from different perspectives. The visit also promoted respect for diversity and deepened their understanding of global communities.
