Year 1 had so much fun at Saltwell park for their Science lesson all about wild flowers. The children were tasked with finding different wild flowers as we walked around the park. These included daisies, dandelions and forget-me-nots. The children were so enthusiastic and engaged in their lesson and were able to apply their classroom learning into the world around them. As we walked around the park, we talked about which flowers we could see, and which flowers were just beginning to bloom in time for summer. We also discussed the parts of the flowers we could see including the stems, leaves and petals. Year 1 showed super knowledge about the trees around them too, identifying the deciduous trees and the evergreen trees by the leaves that were on the branches!
Back in the classroom, Year 1 have been growing their very own plants. We have grown cress, sunflowers and runner beans- which have grown very tall. Year 1 have looked after the plants and love checking to see how much the plants have grown each day!
Well done Year 1! Super Science work!
