This half term, some of our Key Stage 2 children have been busy training to become Digital Superheroes! Through engaging and creative activities, we have learned how to stay safe online by protecting our digital identities and understanding why personal information should never be shared online.

We began by exploring what personal information means. The children learned that details such as their full name, home address, school name, photographs, and usernames are private and should be kept safe. Just like superheroes protect their secret identities, our pupils now know that sharing personal information online can put them at risk.

To bring this learning to life, the children took part in a creative activity using Canva. They designed their own digital characters and avatars, known as online disguises. These disguises allow pupils to represent themselves safely online without revealing who they really are. By using made-up names, fun characters and imaginative designs, the children practised how to be creative while still staying safe.

This activity helped reinforce an important message: you can enjoy being online without giving away personal details. The children were excited to design their disguises and proudly explained how their avatars protect their real identities. Many confidently shared that they now know what information is safe to share and what should always stay private.

Through this project, our Digital Superheroes have developed essential skills for the online world. They have learned to think carefully before sharing, to ask for help if they are unsure, and to understand that staying safe online is just as important as staying safe offline.

I am incredibly proud of how responsibly our pupils have approached this learning. By combining creativity, discussion and digital tools like Canva, our Digital Superheroes are now better prepared to navigate the online world safely, sensibly and confidently. Take a look at our disguises below!
