Recently in Year 1, we have been learning about addition within 10. To begin, we learnt that the part + part = whole. We used part-whole models and ten frames to help with our understanding. Once we became confident with finding the two parts that make a whole number, we started to put the numbers into a full number sentence. Our learning didn’t stop there! We then learnt how to find a full addition fact family. We can now write number sentences starting with the whole number (the whole = part + part). Well done Year 1, keep up the hard work!
