During this half term, Year 6 has started developing their gymnastics skills. We have started the unit by looking at some basic shapes that are used within gymnastics such as the star, straddle, tuck, pike, front support and back support. Next, we started looking at some symmetrical and asymmetrical balances. From this learning, we then went onto create some partner balances varying between symmetrical and asymmetrical.
After that, we started to focus on some different types of rolls such as the forwards, backwards and straddle roll. Year 5 then created their very own routines including different shapes, balances and rolls!
In our last lesson, Year 6 were exploring how to learn a routine then perform this routine in a group of 4 focusing on matching and mirroring.
