Exploring the United Kingdom

This half term Year 1 are learning all about the United Kingdom. So far we have learnt that there are 4 countries that make up the UK: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are now exploring all of the different capital cities. Year 1 already know that London is the capital city of England and that Big Ben and Buckingham Palace can be found in London. Last lesson we explored Edinburgh and learnt about some of the key landmarks such as Edinburgh castle. We had a go at drawing Edinburgh castle and even tried to build it in our construction area!
