We are very excited to be taking part in the First Lego League programme for the very first time this year. Miss Dickinson applied for funding to enable our Key Stage 2 children to take part in the First Lego League Explore programme through the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) and was successful in her bid, receiving 5 Lego Spike kits and 5 First Lego League Submerged packs for this year’s programme.
“During the SUBMERGED℠ Season, FIRST® LEGO® League teams will use creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean and bring their learnings and ideas to the surface as they “sea” into the future.
Children will work together in teams of up to 6 to explore the theme and use LEGO® pieces from the SUBMERGED℠ Explore sets and LEGO® Education Spike Essentials- The teams will learn about ocean habitats, animals, vehicles, and places where research can be conducted.” – The IET
Year 3 will be using the kit next half term as part of their Computing lessons and then, after Christmas, Miss Dickinson will be running our first ever First Lego League after school club!
