Egyptian Art in Year 3

A post in our latest news section.

Earlier this year, Year 3 studied the Ancient Egyptians in their History – Opening Worlds lessons. This half term the children are building on that knowledge by learning about Ancient Egyptian Art. The children have found out that the Egyptians often had animals, fish, flowers and patterns on their art work. They have learned that they worked on papyrus, and the children used a water colour wash in their sketch books to make their surface look like papyrus so that it appeared textured, before they sketched their Egyptian designs on it. The children then selected chalks, felt tips and coloured pencils to produce Egyptian images on their background. The results were fantastic and looked very Egyptian!
