Early Years enjoyed Careers and Aspirations week in school. We were visited by Mr Bonello who
is a mechanic working predominantly with motorbikes. He told us all about how customers come to his garage and ask to buy a motorbike. The children were intrigued that you could get lots of different colour bikes. A fast, black bike appeared to be the children’s most requested bike for Mr Bonello to make for them. He answered lots of the children’s questions such as, Can you make helmets to wear on the motorcycle? And Can you fix a broken motorbike?

Mr Bonello showed the Nursery children how to fix the front wheel using a wrench. The children took it in turns to have a go at fixing the wheel, making sure to hear the ‘clicks’ so they knew it was safe.

Once Nursery children had fixed the motorbike, it was time for the reception children to have a turn at sitting in the seat. Luckily the motorbike was on its stand to help keep it balanced as it can be tricky riding on only two wheels. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about Mr Bonello’s job and having the opportunity to be a mechanic for an hour.
